Girls shine in ZIMSEC exams, outperforming boys

Female students achieved a remarkable feat in the 2024 Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) Advanced Level exams, outperforming their male counterparts by a significant margin.
The overall pass rate was 94.58%, a slight decrease from the previous year. However, female students secured an impressive pass rate of 95.94%, compared to 92.05% for males, representing a 2.81% difference.
A total of 33,585 students sat for the exams, with the majority attempting multiple subjects. Notably, school candidates performed exceptionally well, achieving a pass rate of 95.18%, while private candidates secured a pass rate of 90.52%.
The results also revealed that there were more girls that sat for exams than boys. A total of 17 306 female candidates sat for the November exams compared to 16 092 male candidates.
