The Ele-Collection hosted a solution based conservation meeting on the 19th of July 2024 at Shearwater’s Explorers Village.
The event aimed to address the end of life destination for plastic waste produced in Victoria Falls. The meeting focused on presenting sustainable solutions to tackle plastic pollution in Victoria Falls and other ecologically sensitive areas across Southern Africa.
During the meeting, Technical Director Mr. Rainer von Urff Kaufeld proposed an innovative end destination for all plastic waste by introducing Plazrok.
Unlike standard recycling methods that handle only 30% of plastic, Plazrok can process all seven types of plastic, even up to 10% contaminants.
Meanwhile, the current plastic crisis in Victoria Falls poses severe risks to local wildlife, including elephants and aquatic species.
Ele-Collection also introduced a community-driven plastic collection initiative. Residents can now trade their plastic waste for cash, incentivizing responsible disposal.
The Business Operations Director, Mr. Simon Teede concluded his presentation, encouraging members of the public to join the mission.
Ele-Collection is an organization dedicated to tackling the plastic pollution in Southern Africa particularly around Victoria Falls. Their mission is to remove plastic waste from the environment and recycle it into products that protect communities and ecosystems.
