Coach Sammons Denounces Pitch Conditions as an Excuse

Zimbabwe cricket coach Justin Sammons has dismissed the pitch conditions as a reason for his team’s 2-1 One-Day International (ODI) series defeat to Pakistan at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
Zimbabwe fell to a 99-run loss in the decisive third ODI yesterday, following a heavy 10-wicket defeat on Tuesday and a lone victory on Sunday.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Sammons insisted the team must take full accountability for their performance, stating that blaming the pitch was not an acceptable excuse.
In the final match, Pakistan posted a competitive 303/6 in their 50 overs. Zimbabwe’s chase faltered early, with the team reduced to 50/3 in 10 overs despite captain Craig Ervine registering his 21st ODI half-century.
Attention now shifts to the T20 series, scheduled for December 1, 3, and 5 at Queens Sports Club, as Zimbabwe aims to bounce back in the shorter format.
