City of Victoria Falls Sets Ambitious Goals for 2025

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe – September 19, 2024: The City of Victoria Falls convened a strategic plan review meeting to assess its performance and set goals for the remainder of the year.
The meeting, held at Safari Lodge, brought together key stakeholders to discuss the City’s progress and future plans.
WASH Program Exceeds Targets
There was an improvement in Water Solution and Hygiene (WASH) program as it exceeded its target for per capita water supply, reaching a remarkable 110% efficiency. Daily water supply also outperformed expectations, achieving 20.56% efficiency.
Solid Waste Management Success
Waste management efforts have been equally successful, with 90% of waste collected, meeting the set target. Increased refuse collection teams, timely responses to complaints, and adherence to collection schedules contributed to this achievement.
Road Network Improvements
There has made significant strides in improving the road network.
Rehabilitation efforts exceeded targets, with 3.178 kilometres of roads rehabilitated compared to the planned 2.33 kilometres. Road shoulder repairs and pothole patching also surpassed expectations.
Challenges and Future Plans
While the City has made substantial progress, challenges remain.
Road surfacing fell short of the target due to inadequate funding through ZINARA. The Council plans to address this shortfall by exploring alternative funding sources.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Council has ambitious plans for social services development. The construction of Mosi Hall, a community centre, is currently at 25% completion and is expected to reach 80% by the end of next year.
Additionally, the renovation of Chinotimba and Mkhosana clinics is scheduled for completion in 2025.
