Chevrons beats Ireland to snatch series

Zimbabwe completed a dominant One-Day International series sweep against Ireland with a resounding nine-wicket victory at Harare Sports Club on Tuesday. Ben Curran’s maiden ODI century spearheaded the chase, as Zimbabwe cruised to their target with over 10 overs to spare.
Ireland, after choosing to bat first, struggled to build momentum from their last win as they were limited by Zimbabwe’s impressive bowling. Despite a cautious start, wickets fell regularly will Andy Balbirnie out for 64 and Harry Tector with 51 runs provided some resistance, but Ireland could not accelerate effectively until Lorcan Tucker scored a quickfire 61 from 54 balls. They finished on 240 for six after 50 overs, with Richard Ngarava and Trevor Gwandu each taking two wickets.
Zimbabwe’s chase was clinical with Ben Curran and Brian Bennett laying a solid foundation with a century partnership. Craig Ervine 69 not out, joined Curran and the pair dominated the Irish bowling attack. Ervine finished the match with a six, as Zimbabwe reached 241 for 1 in the 39th over.
This dominant performance gives Chevrons momentum as they head into the three-match T20I series against Ireland, which begins on Saturday at Harare Sports Club.
