The Zimbabwe Republic Police has issued a warning to the public to exercise caution when engaging in transactions, following an incident in Bulawayo where a man was duped of over £17,000 in a car purchase scam.
According to the ZRP Provincial Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the victim was deceived into paying for vehicles that were supposed to be shipped from the United Kingdom, but never received the cars.
Inspector Msebele emphasized the importance of due diligence, particularly in high-value transactions. She advised those buying property to ensure the property is registered in the seller’s name and warned against conducting transactions via cellphone, as this can lead to failed deliveries and financial losses.
The police are urging the public to conduct thorough research and verification before entering into any business deals, stressing that investigation is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement.
