A couple from Bulawayo is on the run after allegedly defrauding victims of over $135,000 by promising job placements in the UK, Canada, and Ireland.
The suspects, Gwendoline Ndlovu (28) and Melusi Ndlovu (36), posed as agents for a non-existent recruitment company, swindling a total of US$134,552 between January and July 2023.
The couple is linked to 18 fraud cases, with victims paying for job placements abroad that never materialized. Gwendoline was arrested on May 3, 2023, after a victim, Alison Unami, reported the scam. Melusi was detained the next day when he visited his wife at Bulawayo Central Police Station.
Although granted bail under strict conditions, the Ndlovus provided a false address, claiming to live in Gwanda while actually residing in Bulawayo.
They later violated their bail terms and disappeared, prompting the police to issue arrest warrants. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information to help locate the fugitives.
