Bulawayo Police Shoot and Kill Two Armed Robbery Suspects

A shootout between detectives from Homicide Bulawayo and two armed robbery suspects ended in the deaths of Aleck Moyo (37) and Bongani Tshuma (41) on August 18.

According to a statement released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the suspects were wanted for five armed robbery cases that occurred between March 6 and July 29.

Acting on a tip-off, detectives raided a bushy area between Mpilo Hospital and Richmond, where the suspects were hiding. The suspects opened fire on the detectives, leading to a shootout. Overpowered, the suspects sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to the United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals, where they died upon admission.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has reiterated its commitment to fighting robbery cases in the country, stating that the law will take its course without fear or favor.
