Arts Industry Pleads for Funding to Meet International Standards

The Minister of Publicity, Information, and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Jenfan Muswere, has called for increased funding to strengthen the broadcasting industry and support its modernization.
Dr Muswere stressed that enhancing the sector’s infrastructure and technology is crucial not only for improved national communication but also to enable Zimbabwe’s media to meet international standards.
This minister made his plea while presenting his recommendations for the 2025 national budget at the Pre-Budget Seminar held at the ZITF grounds in Bulawayo, Muswere emphasized the importance of a well-equipped media sector to foster national growth and enhance Zimbabwe’s international standing.
Muswere also highlighted that Zimbabwe is currently nine years behind in the Zimbabwe Digitalisation Project, underscoring the need for substantial work to modernize infrastructure and equipment.
He emphasized that a well-funded broadcasting sector would boost local content creation, improve service delivery, and contribute to the country’s image on the global stage.
