AMA reminds stakeholders to register for 2024/25 agricultural season

The Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA) is urging all institutions and individuals involved in contract farming to register or renew their licenses for the 2024/25 agricultural season. The season officially commenced on 1 October 2024, and will conclude on 30 September 2025.
In a recent announcement, AMA clarified that a special extension has been granted, allowing registrations to be completed by 15 December 2024. This deadline applies to both institutions and individual farmers and the registration requirement is mandated by the Agricultural Marketing Authority Act, CAP 18:24, and Statutory Instruments 147 of 2012 and 140 of 2013.
AMA further emphasized on the importance of adhering to contractual obligations and issued a warning against side marketing stating that they have a zero-tolerance policy for such breaches and will prosecute offenders.
