More Than 700 Returnees Assisted Through Beitbridge-Bulawayo Transit Programme

More than 700 Zimbabwean returnees have been transported from Beitbridge to Bulawayo since the beginning of July, as humanitarian organisations continue efforts to support citizens returning home and reconnect them with their communities.
According to the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations, a total of 714 returnees were moved on 14 buses, while 146 people received humanitarian assistance at the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) reception centre in Njube, Bulawayo.
Among those assisted were 67 children, 42 women and 37 men, underscoring the significant welfare needs facing vulnerable returnees. Three persons with disabilities were also supported, while three others required urgent medical attention.
The majority of the returnees were travelling to various districts across Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South, with 23 destined for Hwange, 20 for Lupane, 16 for Bubi, 12 for Umguza, eight each for Tsholotsho and Binga, and seven for Nkayi.
Humanitarian agencies say transport assistance remains one of the most pressing needs, with an estimated 75 percent of returnees requiring support to reach their final destinations.
The latest figures highlight the continued demand for coordinated humanitarian assistance as organisations work to ensure returning Zimbabweans are safely reintegrated into their communities.
