Zimbabwe Rafting Team Breaks Into World Top Ten
Written by Staff Reporter on July 11, 2026
Zimbabwe’s rafting team has broken into the world’s top 10 at the Rafting World Cup Series despite competing with only four athletes and no substitutes.
Team representative Mr Moyo says the small squad placed Zimbabwe at a disadvantage, with other countries fielding several teams that allowed athletes to rotate and recover between races.
He stated that the host nation Kenya registered dozens of competitors, while Zimbabwe relied on just one four-member team throughout the competition.
Despite the challenge, Zimbabwe finished among Africa’s top teams, with Moyo describing the result as encouraging and expressing confidence that a larger Zimbabwean delegation could compete even more strongly at future events
He added that increasing squad numbers would improve the team’s chances of challenging for top honours in international competitions.
