Highlanders Bounce Back as CAPS United Suffer Another Setback in Title Chase

Written by on June 28, 2026

Highlanders returned to winning ways on Saturday with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over MWOS at Ngoni Stadium, while CAPS United’s hopes of keeping pace with the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League leaders suffered another blow following a frustrating draw against Triangle United.

Bosso secured maximum points courtesy of goals from Never Rauzhi and Isaac Ngoma, ending their recent winless run and boosting their campaign. Arthur Banda scored the lone goal for MWOS, who were without head coach Lloyd Mutasa, currently on compassionate leave.

The victory provided much-needed relief for Highlanders as they seek to strengthen their position in the league standings during the second half of the season.

At Gibbo Stadium, CAPS United were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Triangle United despite a brace from Chawanangwa Kaonga. Triangle fought back through goals from Aaron Zeka and Stephen Zhogi to earn a share of the spoils.

The result leaves the Green Machine in third place on 34 points, nine behind league leaders Scottland, dealing another setback to their title aspirations.

Elsewhere, Hardrock continued their impressive run with a convincing 2-0 victory over Chicken Inn. Goals from Wilfred Madzungu and Tinashe Mashaireni ensured Hardrock remained firmly in contention among the league’s frontrunners.

FC Platinum and FC Hunters shared the points in a 1-1 draw, while TelOne registered a valuable 2-1 win over Simba Bhora. ZPC Kariba and Ngezi Platinum Stars also played out a 1-1 stalemate.

The league action continues on Sunday with two fixtures on the programme. Dynamos will face Bulawayo Chiefs at Rufaro Stadium, while AGAMA host Herentals at Wadzanayi Stadium.

Both matches are scheduled to kick off at 3pm as the race for points intensifies across the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
