President and ZANU PF First Secretary, Emmerson Mnangagwa, has officially welcomed General (Rtd) Philip Valerio Sibanda into the ruling party’s Politburo, describing his inclusion as a significant boost to ZANU PF’s highest decision-making organ.

The formal welcome was extended during a Politburo meeting held in Harare on Wednesday, where senior party leadership acknowledged the retired army commander’s induction into the influential body tasked with shaping the party’s strategic direction and policy priorities.

Addressing party members, President Mnangagwa expressed confidence that General (Rtd) Sibanda would make a meaningful contribution to the continued growth, unity and strengthening of ZANU PF, citing his extensive leadership credentials and distinguished record of service to the nation.

The President said Sibanda’s wealth of experience, discipline and strategic acumen acquired over decades in national service would add value to deliberations within the Politburo as the ruling party advances its development agenda and consolidates organisational structures.

General (Rtd) Sibanda recently retired as Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces after a distinguished military career marked by leadership in national defence and security.

His appointment to the Politburo is being viewed as a strategic reinforcement of ZANU PF’s leadership ranks, bringing seasoned experience into the party at a critical time as it sharpens policy implementation and intensifies preparations for key national and political programmes.
