The number of Zimbabwean students attending universities in the United States of America continues to rise, with a notable a 6.6% increase in enrollment for the 2023-2024 academic year.
This trend places the U.S. as one of the top three destinations for Zimbabweans pursuing higher education, after South Africa and the United Kingdom.
According to the 2024 Open Doors Report by the Institute of International Education, 1,907 Zimbabweans are currently enrolled in U.S. institutions. Graduate programs saw a 15% growth, and 49% of Zimbabweans are undergraduates.
The U.S. Embassy has been pivotal in supporting this increase, offering guidance through its Education USA program and Opportunity Funds for low-income students. Additionally, over 100 Zimbabweans participated in fully-funded exchange programs last year, enhancing professional and cultural ties between the two nations.
