The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has intensified efforts to capacitate and skill CID Crack teams in combating specialized crimes, including armed robbery, theft of motor vehicles, murder, and cybercrime.
According to Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the ZRP has introduced a technology-driven approach to enhance investigations and response to high-profile cases.
Assistant Commissioner Nyathi highlighted that 63 detectives underwent a 45-day skill development course on tracking, response, and investigations, equipping them with the latest tools and techniques.
He indicated that Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba emphasized the importance of technology in policing, providing each CID Crack Team member with state-of-the-art tablets to aid investigations.
The training aligns with the ZRP’s broader efforts to improve policing capabilities and performance nationwide. Assistant Commissioner Nyathi noted that Commissioner-General Mutamba urged detectives to adhere to constitutional dictates and observe fundamental rules on firearm usage.
