ZIMRA Warns Public Against Importing and Exporting Restricted Goods

Written by on February 28, 2025

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has urged the public to refrain from importing and exporting restricted goods, warning that doing so is illegal and can result in imprisonment.

According to ZIMRA Revenue Supervisor Sanelisiwe Msebele, Zimbabwe’s Customs and Excise Act (Chapter 23:02) prohibits the importation of certain goods that may pose a threat to the nation or its natural resources.

ZIMRA Revenue Officer Siphathisiwe Ncube advised individuals seeking to import or export goods requiring permits or licenses to engage with the relevant ministries responsible for regulating those products.

Meanwhile, ZIMRA has outlined guidelines on restricted and non-restricted goods. Prohibited items include narcotics, counterfeit goods, and objectionable materials, while non-restricted goods such as educational or medical supplies may still require compliance with specific regulations or documentation.
