The Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League, initially set to begin on Saturday, 5 April 2025, has been postponed to 12 April 2025. This delay provides clubs with additional time to finalize preparations for the new season.
James Rugwevera, the director of newly promoted Mpopoma Sports Academy, welcomed the postponement, noting that it offers the team a chance to secure sponsorship deals. The team is currently in discussions with potential sponsors to strengthen their financial backing ahead of the season.
The league will open with an exciting Bulawayo derby between Highlanders and Royals, who will host Mpopoma Sports Academy. Rugwevera also shared that Mpopoma has bolstered their squad with seasoned players, and loaned players have returned to the club, boosting the team’s prospects for the upcoming season.
