Zimbabwe is poised to once again shine on the global arts stage as it participates in the 61st Venice Biennale in Venice, unveiling its national pavilion titled Second Nature.

The exhibition will feature works by Zimbabwean artists Gideon Gomo, Eva Raath, Franklyn Dzingai, Felix Shumba, and Pardon Mapondera under the curatorship of Fadzai Veronica Muchemwa.

The pavilion explores themes of identity, environment, memory, and lived experience, offering a thought-provoking reflection on the evolving relationship between individuals and their surroundings. Through diverse artistic expressions, the exhibition seeks to engage international audiences in conversations around humanity, place, and transformation.

Permanent Secretary Nicholas Moyo is expected to officially open the pavilion, marking Zimbabwe’s eighth participation at the prestigious global contemporary art showcase, which brings together nearly 100 national pavilions from around the world.

Zimbabwe’s continued presence at the Venice Biennale highlights the country’s growing influence within the international arts community while providing local creatives with valuable exposure to global collectors, curators, and cultural institutions.

The participation also reinforces Zimbabwe’s commitment to promoting cultural diplomacy and elevating the visibility of its contemporary art sector on the world stage.
