Zimbabwe Men’s cricket side, the Chevrons have intensified their preparations for next week’s historic Test match against England with a four-day warm-up against a Professional County Club (PCC) Select XI, which commenced today at the Uptonsteel County Ground in Leicester.
This match is Zimbabwe’s only fixture before their highly anticipated return to Test cricket on English soil for the first time since 2003.
In an interview, Chevrons Assistant Coach Dion Ebrahim emphasized the importance of the match, stating it allows both batsmen and bowlers crucial time in the middle to adjust. He also highlighted the need for players to solidify their game plans ahead of the Trent Bridge showdown.
Coach Ebrahim further highlighted the importance of playing England, a chance for Zimbabwe to showcase their talent and progress in Test cricket after a long absence from this level in England.
Following the Test against England which is slated for 22 to 25 May, Zimbabwe will take on South Africa in a four-day encounter from 3 to 6 June 2025 at Arundel.
