Zimbabwe Breaks Tobacco Production Record, Earns Over US$1 Billion

Zimbabwe has shattered its all-time tobacco production record, selling an impressive 299,158,624 kilograms and generating more than US$1 billion in revenue.

The Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Dr Anxious Masuka, announced the milestone and commended farmers, merchants, and all key stakeholders for their combined efforts.

According to Dr Masuka, this year’s figures surpass the previous record of 296 million kilograms set during the 2022/2023 season. With the marketing season still ongoing, Zimbabwe is now just 841,376 kilograms away from reaching the historic 300 million kilogram mark.

He expressed appreciation to all contributors, highlighting the role of the tobacco sector in advancing the country’s Vision 2030 goals. He said the achievement reflects a robust agricultural sector and the continued growth of Zimbabwe’s tobacco industry.
