ZIFA to Announce New Warriors Coach Next Week

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) says the new Warriors head coach will be announced early next week.

Speaking on SuperSport’s Soccer Africa during the show’s 1,000th episode on Thursday evening, ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi revealed that the selection process to replace former coach Michael Nees is now at an advanced stage with the announcement expected to be made between Monday or Tuesday next week.

He added that the association’s technical committee is currently finalising a shortlist of candidates for the top job.

Once appointed, the new coach will have little time to settle in, as the Warriors are set to face Qatar and Algeria in international friendly matches during the upcoming FIFA break.

Those fixtures will serve as the team’s final preparation before the Africa Cup of Nations kicks off on the 21st of December in Morocco.
