Vice President Chiwenga Champions Ethical and Sustainable Procurement at PRAZ Conference.

Today, at the 4th Annual Public Procurement Conference organized by the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ) in Victoria Falls, Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga delivered a keynote address. He emphasized the government’s commitment to eliminating unethical and inefficiencies in state procurement processes. These efforts are part of broader macro-economic measures aimed at achieving rapid economic growth and transitioning Zimbabwe towards an empowered upper-middle-income economy, as envisioned by President Mnangagwa.
Dr Chiwenga highlighted the importance of sustainable procurement practices and the role of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in fostering economic development. He underscored the need for collaboration among African nations to create a unified approach to procurement that supports environmental, social, and economic goals.
The Vice President also emphasized the importance of developing the procurement landscape to leave a lasting legacy for future generations. He highlighted the need to embrace technology, particularly artificial intelligence, and encouraged collaboration and innovation for the benefit of both present and future generations.
The Vice President’s address set the tone for the conference, which aims to bring together over 500 delegates to share insights and strategies for integrating sustainable procurement into local and regional frameworks.
