Solusi University Reignites Africa Day Celebrations

After years of dormancy, Solusi University is set to rekindle its Africa Day Celebrations in a powerful show of unity, diversity, and cultural pride.
The event, scheduled for May 25th, 2025, marks a significant moment in the institution’s history — not only as a celebration of African heritage but also as a reaffirmation of Solusi’s role as a center for holistic education and cultural consciousness.
Nestled in Zimbabwe, Solusi University is no ordinary academic institution. It is a place where faith, intellect, and identity converge.
Renowned for fostering an inclusive, Christian-based environment, the university has become a pot of African cultures, with students hailing from Angola, Mozambique, South Africa, Eswatini, Namibia, and beyond.
These diverse identities are not merely observed — they are lived and celebrated, forming the heartbeat of the Solusi experience.
This year’s Cultural Day is being spearheaded by the university Enactus Boost Club, led by President Ashley Sibanda, alongside the Solemn Voices directed by Ntandoyenkosi Vanya.
Adding entrepreneurial strength to the initiative is Mr Mvenhle Mabutho Sikhosana, CEO of SK Broiler Farm and a proud Solusi student, whose sponsorship is helping bring the event to life.
“This is more than just a celebration — it’s a statement,” Sikhosana shared. “As young people, these are the initiatives we want to invest in. Despite our different backgrounds, we are united under one Christian culture. That makes Solusi a welcoming and inclusive environment, and we are proud to support such a cause.”
The festivities will feature performances and exhibitions, including poetry that resonates with African identity, dramatic plays, marimba, choral performances, and traditional attire displays representing the continent’s many cultures.
Adding to the spirit of the day, Student Representative Council (SRC) President Nthabiseni Mzwadile Ndlovu emphasized the event’s deeper purpose:
“At Solusi, we are proud to celebrate the diversity that defines not only Africa but our campus community as well. When students appreciate each other’s backgrounds, we build a stronger, more united academic and social environment.”
The revival of Africa Day Celebrations is not just an event — it is a declaration of identity and purpose. It serves as a reminder that before becoming global citizens, students at Solusi are first rooted in their African identity, unified by faith and a shared vision for the future.
As the university prepares for this historic celebration, one message is clear: at Solusi University, culture is not forgotten.
