President Emmerson Mnangagwa today led proceedings at the burial of National Hero Cde Luke Mushore, a decorated liberation war veteran and former ZANU-PF Mashonaland Central Chairman, held at the National Heroes Acre in Harare.
Cde Mushore, whose nom de guerre was Dick Joboringo, died on 15 June 2025 at the age of 76 following a long illness. Born on 13 June 1949 in Mushore Village, Madziwa District, he joined the liberation struggle at an early age, dedicating his life to Zimbabwe’s independence.
Addressing mourners, President Mnangagwa described the late hero as a man of unwavering commitment and sacrifice.
He highlighted that Cde Mushore’s political consciousness was shaped at Bernard Mzeki College, which set him on the path to becoming a freedom fighter. After independence, he served in the police force and the Ministry of Sports and Culture, later fully devoting himself to party work in 1997.
The burial was attended by government officials, senior ZANU-PF members, war veterans, and members of the public, all gathered to honour his legacy.
