President Emmerson Mnangagwa has officially begun his annual leave, which runs for a month from the 23rd of December 2025, according to a statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet.
The Head of State will spend his holiday within Zimbabwe, in keeping with his long-standing tradition of remaining in the country during his annual break.
Vice President Kembo C. D. Mohadi has been appointed Acting President from the 23rd to the 31st of December, assuming full presidential responsibilities during that period. Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is also expected to take over acting presidential duties during the remaining part of the leave in early January, as has been the practice in previous years.
President Mnangagwa’s leave follows an intensive 2025 schedule marked by major national and regional engagements, including investment summits, diplomatic visits, and economic development initiatives.
Government has assured the nation that all state functions and essential services will continue uninterrupted under the acting presidency and the Cabinet.
The President’s annual leave is a routine and constitutionally provided process under the executive functions of the Head of State.
