No More Experiments: Warriors Coach Nees Shifts Focus to Crucial Qualifier

Written by on June 12, 2025

Zimbabwe national football team coach Michael Nees has declared an end to his period of squad experimentation, signaling a shift in focus towards a more settled lineup as crucial qualification campaigns approach.

This comes after the coach used the recent ended International break to assess new talent and build depth within the Warriors squad, by integrating seven new national team players and gave 12 players their first taste of international action under his leadership.

In an interview, Warriors coach Nees acknowledged that this experimental phase, undertaken during the June international break, was a big risk both for him and the federation, emphasizing that it was a necessary step to increase the depth in the squad.

With several key players expected to return to the squad, including prominent names like Knowledge Musona and Marvellous Nakamba, Nees is now looking to finalize a more settled team. The focus will be squarely on securing positive results in the upcoming qualification matches, where every point will be critical.
