Lift African Women Up Foundation, a pioneering initiative founded by Lwazi Mbowa, was officially launched yesterday at Irock Lodge in Victoria Falls.
The foundation, which seeks to address the often-overlooked struggles faced by women, including relationships, depression, anxiety, and domestic violence, aims to promote mental wellness and empower women across the continent.
In her keynote address, Mbowa highlighted the challenges and pain women face in their marriages as a result of infidelities, which may also lead to depression.

The launch event featured a workshop with a panel of experts, including Mrs. Getrude Ndlovu, Mr. Thwasalodumo Mvundla, and Mental Health Specialist Mrs. Maphosa.
Mrs Maphosa addressed the importance of mental wellness and cautioned women against turning to drug and substance abuse as a coping mechanism for depression.

Another panelist, Getrude Ndlovu, emphasized the importance of self-empowerment where she encouraged women to take charge of their lives by engaging in small income-generating projects, which can improve their physical, financial, mental, and emotional well-being. Clip//Getrude Ndlovu
The Lift African Women Up Foundation has already garnered support from the community, with many women expressing gratitude for the initiative. The foundation plans to host more workshops, provide counseling services, and create safe spaces for women to share their experiences and support one another.
