Lupane Man Whips Wife Over Dissappearing on Christmas

A Lupane man has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for violently assaulting his wife twice, first on Christmas Eve over her whereabouts and later after accusing her of infidelity.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the first assault occurred on 27 December 2024 at their homestead, where the man used open hands and fists to beat his wife, injuring her face. She managed to escape and sought refuge at her aunt’s homestead.
On the 2 January 2025, the man visited his wife to apologize, and she agreed to return home. However, upon their arrival, he accused her of infidelity and beat her with a whip.
The court convicted him of two counts of domestic violence, sentencing him to 12 months in prison, with 6 months suspended on the condition of good behavior.
