John Landa Nkomo Memorial Trust donates 16.5 Tonnes of Mealie Meal to 750 households in Tsholotsho

In response to the Elnino Induced drought that hit most parts of the country, the John Landa Nkomo Memorial Trust (JLNMT) has donated 16.5 tonnes of mealie meal to 750 households, providing critical relief to struggling families.
This donation, distributed at Mtshina Primary School in ward 10, marks part of an ongoing initiative by the trust to support disadvantaged communities, with more aid planned in the future.
Addressing beneficiaries during the handover Tsholotsho South MP Hon Musa Ncube commended the president’s efforts in constructing infrastructure, such as rivers, schools, and hospitals, demonstrating a commitment to supporting the Tsholotsho community during these challenging times.
Meanwhile the trust’s chairman Mr Jabulani Nkomo, expressed appreciation for the support of President Emerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, which has enabled the trust to make meaningful contributions to the community.
A resident and beneficiary of the initiave Ms Sehlulene Ndlovu highlighted the challenges, mentioning that some families can go as long as three days without food.
Another resident, Mgcini Sibanda pointed out the lack of rainfall, which has hindered farming and worsened the drought’s effects.
The JLNMT’s donation of mealie meal to the Tsholotsho community offers significant relief amid the ongoing drought.
The trust’s sustained support, in tandem with the president’s initiatives, underscores the importance of collaborative efforts to uplift and assist communities in times of hardship.
