Investment & Aviation: From Air Connectivity to $8B Goals: Chadzamira Declares Masvingo Ready for Global Investment

MASVINGO, ZIMBABWE — In a welcome address at the official opening of the 19th Sanganai/Hlanganani/Dzimbahwe Tourism Expo 2026, Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon. Ezra Chadzamira, declared the province open for global investment while setting an ambitious target to build a US$8 billion provincial economy by 2030.

​Addressing President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, international buyers, and delegates gathered in the home of the Great Zimbabwe Monument, Minister Chadzamira described hosting the nation’s premier tourism showcase as a monumental milestone delivered through the Second Republic’s devolution policy.

Highlighting the spirit of Sanganai/Hlanganani—meaning “let us come together, let us unite”—Minister Chadzamira positioned the sector as a central pillar for job creation, foreign currency generation, and local enterprise empowerment.

​”We are not merely participating in this national vision; we are driving it,” Chadzamira stated. “Tourism speaks directly to our livelihoods. We want to ensure that money spent by tourists stays in our communities—supporting the tour guide who puts food on the table, the craft maker supporting a family, and the hotel worker building a future.”

The Minister celebrated key infrastructure milestones that have unlocked Masvingo’s accessibility, pointing to the touchdown of Air Zimbabwe flights on Masvingo Airport’s upgraded tarmac. This direct gateway allows international tourists arriving from global hubs like London or Beijing to seamlessly connect to the province’s premier attractions, including:

• ​Tugwi Mukosi Dam (Zimbabwe’s largest inland dam)
• ​Great Zimbabwe National Monument
• ​Gonarezhou National Park & Malilangwa Wildlife Reserve

​To accommodate the growing influx of delegates, provincial accommodation capacity has doubled to over 1,900 rooms.

Speaking from the newly developed Gymkhana event facility, Minister Chadzamira proposed discarding the venue’s colonial name and officially renaming it the Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Exhibition Centre. The venue is slated to serve as a world-class hub for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) long after the expo concludes.

​Concluding his remarks, Chadzamira declared full provincial backing for Constitutional Amendment Act 3 to sustain the nation’s accelerated economic trajectory, reassuring international visitors that their investments remain secure: “Masvingo is open for business, and Zimbabwe is open for investment.”
