The government has reaffirmed its commitment to exploring clean and efficient energy sources to meet the country’s needs by 2030.
This was revealed at the recently held cabinet briefing session where the Cabinet approved a memorandum of agreement among Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states to establish a SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency.
Speaking during the briefing, Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services Dr Jenfan Muswere, stated that Zimbabwe is actively exploring clean energy sources and promoting partnerships with public and private entities to support this initiative.
The centre aims to improve energy security across the SADC region by facilitating access to modern and clean energy. It will promote the adoption of renewable energy technologies, helping to create and strengthen ecosystems for renewable energy development at both national and regional levels.
Muswere also emphasized the importance of building technical facilities to demonstrate renewable applications, test efficiency technologies, and foster a global knowledge network to support deployment.
