Written by Staff Reporter on May 16, 2025
Hwange Thermal Power Station has seen a notable improvement in its generating capacity, with Units 1, 2, and 3 currently operational and producing a combined total of 212 megawatts (MW) of electricity. As Unit 3 continues to ramp up production, the collective output from the three units is expected to reach 260 MW.
In a significant development, Unit 4 has successfully completed safety and performance tests following repairs and was scheduled for reconnection to the national grid yesterday.
Unit 6 remains offline, with restoration efforts underway and a return to service targeted for 27 May 2025.
The phased restoration of these key units is anticipated to enhance electricity supply stability nationwide, providing much-needed relief to consumers and industry.
