Fastjet Zimbabwe Welcomes Airbus A320 to Boost Peak-Season Capacity

VICTORIA FALLS — Fastjet Zimbabwe has taken delivery of an Airbus A320 aircraft, marking a significant boost to the airline’s operational capacity ahead of the busy August–September travel period.

The aircraft arrived at Victoria Falls International Airport on Saturday, where it was received with a ceremonial welcome attended by aviation stakeholders, tourism players, and government representatives. The addition of the A320 is expected to ease pressure on high-demand regional routes and enhance passenger experience during peak season.

Fastjet Zimbabwe Board Chairman, Farai Mutamangira, said the aircraft deployment reflects the airline’s commitment to meeting growing travel demand while supporting the country’s tourism sector.

“This strategic addition to our fleet allows us to better serve key regional routes and align with national efforts to grow tourism and economic activity,” Mutamangira said.

The Airbus A320 will primarily service the Victoria Falls–Johannesburg and Harare–Johannesburg routes, which traditionally experience increased traffic during this period due to both tourism and business travel.

The airline also hosted a welcome event to commemorate the aircraft’s arrival, highlighting collaboration between the private aviation sector and government in strengthening Zimbabwe’s connectivity.

Tourism stakeholders have welcomed the move, noting that increased seat capacity and improved scheduling flexibility will play a crucial role in supporting visitor inflows to Victoria Falls—one of Africa’s premier tourist destinations.

Fastjet Zimbabwe continues to position itself as a key player in regional aviation, with ongoing efforts to expand its network and improve service delivery in line with international standards.
