Ekusileni Hospital Officially Handed Over to NUST

The National Social Security Authority (NSSA) has officially handed over Ekusileni Hospital to the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) for use as a specialist teaching hospital under its Faculty of Medicine.
The handover ceremony, held at the hospital, was attended by government officials, NSSA representatives, and NUST leadership. The Ministry of Health and Child Care, Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, NSSA, and NUST signed the official transfer documents, marking the beginning of a new phase for the facility.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Mandla Vundla from the Ministry of Health and Child Care expressed the ministry’s commitment to working with NUST in developing a technical plan for the hospital’s operations.
NSSA Acting General Manager, Dr. Charles Shava, emphasized that the hospital was part of the late Vice President Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo’s vision for accessible healthcare in Zimbabwe.
NUST Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mqhele Dlodlo, thanked NSSA for entrusting the institution with the facility and pledged to utilize it effectively for the benefit of the nation.
Ekusileni Hospital, equipped with four wards, a pharmacy, an X-ray laboratory, six operating theaters, and physiotherapy facilities, is expected to enhance medical training and improve access to specialist healthcare services.
