The Cabinet has approved the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), a five-year plan set to succeed NDS1, which concludes this December.

Minister of Information, Broadcasting, and Publicity, Dr. Jenfan Muswere, announced during a recent cabinet briefing that NDS2 will focus on 10 national priority areas, all aimed at driving Zimbabwe toward an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance, Economic Development, and Investment Promotion, Professor Mthuli Ncube, highlighted that the government will assess the performance of NDS1, conduct a thorough review, and engage citizens in the planning and implementation of NDS2.

The Ministry of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting has also announced that NDS1 will be reviewed by April to identify and address any gaps as the country prepares for NDS2’s rollout, ensuring alignment with Vision 2030.

NDS2 is expected to launch in October, following nationwide consultations. It aims to build on the foundations laid by NDS1, which focused on economic recovery and stability.
