A 42-year-old Bulawayo man, identified as Gary Bell, has been sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment for possession of cocaine and ecstasy.
The operation leading to Bell’s arrest followed a tip-off, prompting CID Drugs officers in Harare to work in coordination with Bulawayo detectives. Surveillance was conducted at a food outlet in Hillside, Bulawayo, where Bell was suspected of dealing in dangerous drugs.
On 15 February 2025, Bell arrived at the location in a Toyota GD6, and detectives recovered several sachets of cocaine from his person and vehicle. A follow-up search at his Burnside residence led to the discovery of more cocaine concealed in a jewelry box, as well as digital scales and razor blades bearing traces of the drug.
The Tredgold Magistrates Court sentenced Bell to 18 months in prison, with six months suspended on condition of good behavior. He will serve 12 months behind bars.
