Binga Man Arrested for Severely Assaulting Elderly Father Over Witchcraft Allegations

A Binga man, Clement Manyungwa Siluwe, was arrested after severely assaulting his 69-year-old father, Michael Siluwe, following an argument over witchcraft accusations.
According to a statement by the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the incident, which occurred in December 2024, escalated when Clement attacked his father with a wooden chair before slashing him on the head with a machete.
The elderly father sustained severe injuries, including a double arm fracture and a gaping head wound. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Clement was arrested and charged with attempted murder. He remains in police custody, with his case set to be heard before the Hwange magistrate’s court on 30 January 2025.
