Acting President Chiwenga Pays Tribute to Late Mrs. Sikhubekiso Mangena

Acting President Hon. Gen. (Rtd) Dr. Constantino G.D.N. Chiwenga has expressed his deepest condolences to the Mangena family over the passing of Mrs. Sikhubekiso Mangena, widow of the late National Hero, Cde Rodgers Alferd Nikita Mangena, who died on May 11, 2025, after an asthma-related illness.
In his message, Acting President Chiwenga expressed Mrs. Mangena as a brave woman who stood behind her husband during the liberation struggle, including assisting injured freedom fighters and those in need of medical attention.
After her husband’s assassination in 1978, Mrs. Mangena continued to support the liberation movement, using her international platform to mobilize resources. She later returned to Zimbabwe and worked as a Kindergarten teacher in Bulawayo.
Mrs. Mangena is survived by her son, Lotshe, and nine grandchildren.
