ZERA Cuts Fuel Prices by 10 Cents Per Litre

Motorists and businesses are set to benefit from lower fuel costs following a reduction in fuel prices announced by the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA).

In a petroleum price notice, ZERA said the new prices came into effect on 19 June and will remain valid for the next 14 days. The regulator reduced both diesel and petrol prices by 10 United States cents per litre as part of efforts to ease the impact of fluctuating global market conditions and changing import costs on consumers.

Under the revised pricing structure, Diesel 50 now costs US$1.99 per litre, down from US$2.09, while Blend E20 petrol has been reduced from US$2.08 to US$1.98 per litre.

In local currency, Diesel 50 is now pegged at ZWG53.26 per litre, while Blend E20 petrol is selling at ZWG53.00 per litre.

The latest adjustment is expected to provide relief to transport operators, businesses and households that rely heavily on fuel, while supporting broader economic activity through reduced operating costs.

ZERA reiterated that the mandatory fuel blending ratio remains at E20 and urged fuel service stations to comply with regulations governing fuel sales. The authority also noted that operators are permitted to charge below the prescribed maximum prices depending on their trading conditions but must prominently display fuel prices at their forecourts.

The fuel price review comes amid continued monitoring of international oil markets and regional supply dynamics, with authorities seeking to ensure stable and affordable energy supplies for consumers.
