Hon Mudenda Arrives in Belarus, Signs Landmark Parliamentary Cooperation Agreement

Speaker of Parliament and ZANU PF Secretary-General, Hon. Advocate Jacob Francis Nzwidamilimo Mudenda, arrived in Minsk, Belarus, on 27 May 2026 to participate in the Belarus Political Party Second International Conference on State Sovereignty and Principles of International Relations, scheduled to run from 28 to 31 May.

In a major diplomatic milestone ahead of the conference, Speaker Mudenda held high-level bilateral talks with his Belarusian counterpart, Hon. Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, culminating in the historic signing of a strategic Cooperation Agreement aimed at deepening parliamentary diplomacy and strengthening fraternal ties between Zimbabwe and Belarus.

The agreement is expected to enhance cooperation between the two legislatures through increased parliamentary exchanges, knowledge sharing and collaboration on issues of mutual national interest, reinforcing the growing bilateral relationship between Harare and Minsk.

Speaker Mudenda’s participation at the international conference comes as Zimbabwe continues to broaden diplomatic engagement and consolidate strategic partnerships aligned with the Second Republic’s foreign policy and economic diplomacy agenda.

Upon arrival in Minsk, Hon. Mudenda was received at the airport by Hon. Sergei Rachkov, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on International Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, alongside Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Belarus, His Excellency Ignatius Mudzimba, and embassy officials.

Following his arrival, Ambassador Mudzimba provided a comprehensive briefing on the Speaker’s programme in Belarus and outlined the Embassy’s key operations in advancing Zimbabwe’s diplomatic and economic interests under the foreign policy thrust of the Second Republic.

Speaker Mudenda is accompanied by officials from the Parliament of Zimbabwe and ZANU PF, as the delegation seeks to strengthen political, legislative and diplomatic cooperation during the high-profile international engagement.
