BCC To Host Landmark Climate Change Indaba To Address Climate Change

As part of its efforts to combat the effects of climate change, Bulawayo City Council (BCC) in collaboration with the ministry of environment, climate and wildlife and other stakeholders, will host a landmark climate change ,carbon market and sustainability Indaba from 17 July to the 18th , at Bulawayo large City hall.

The two day event comes as the country grapples with devastating impacts of El Nino – induced drought, and aims to bring together stakeholders to explore solutions to build resilience , adaptation and coping capacities.

Minister of environment, climate and wildlife Hon. Dr Sthembiso Nyoni is expected to headline the event and will unveil the national strategy for aligning with the Paris Agreement, which in turn will unlock climate Finance to support the resilience , mitigation and adaptation system for Zimbabwe.

Other government ministers that include minister of land, Agriculture, water , Fisheries and Rural development Hon . Dr Anxious Masuka, minister of energy and power development Hon . Edgar Moyo , international experts and local authorities will also participate in the Indaba , which will see the launch of the Bulawayo sustainable roadmap, a people centric climate action plan aimed at achieving carbon neutrality and attracting green investment.

The event promises to be a ground breaking gathering , setting the stage for Zimbabwe’s transition to a low- carbon economy and sustainable development.
