VICTORIA FALLS — The newly constructed sporting courts at Chinotimba Stadium are set to serve as a catalyst for community wellness and sports tourism following the hosting of the SADC Anti-Corruption Expo and Games.

Speaking on the initiative, Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) Chairperson Hon. Michael Reza highlighted that the development aligns with national health and wellness policies. Built through a partnership between ZACC and the Victoria Falls City Council, the new facilities were constructed for the regional games and will be officially handed over to benefit local residents and government departments.

”Our government has a deliberate policy of health and wellness,” stated Hon. Reza. “We have created these courts so that government departments and people from Victoria Falls can utilize them for health and wellness where previously there were no such facilities.”

Hon. Reza further emphasized that the legacy project will drive sports tourism, attracting athletes and teams from across the region to utilize the facilities for training and competitions while generating revenue for the local council.

The initiative strongly complements broader national efforts championed by the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon. Barbara Rwodzi, to diversify Zimbabwe’s tourism offerings beyond natural attractions. Under Hon. Rwodzi’s leadership, the Ministry continues to promote sports tourism and local community-based tourism, further establishing Victoria Falls as a multi-faceted international hub.
