Reza Calls For Stronger Regional Asset Recovery Cooperation

Written by on September 17, 2026

Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) Chairperson Michael Reza has called for stronger regional cooperation to trace and recover illicit assets moved across SADC borders.

Speaking at a high-level anti-corruption dialogue in Victoria Falls, Reza said corruption and illicit financial flows increasingly cross national boundaries, making cooperation between anti-corruption agencies critical.

He said investigations should not end with identifying corruption offences, but must also establish where the proceeds went, who benefited and where the assets are held.

Reza stated that effective asset recovery requires timely information sharing, financial investigations and trust between institutions operating under different legal systems.

He added that regional cooperation must therefore move beyond formal agreements and translate into practical collaboration capable of following the money when corruption crosses borders.
