Chief Dakamela is set to take Zimbabwean culture and traditional heritage to the international stage when he participates in the forthcoming Isintu Fest in Birmingham, United Kingdom, on 11 July.
The cultural gathering, which will be held at the Holford Drive Community Hub in Perry Barr, is expected to draw members of the African diaspora, cultural practitioners and heritage enthusiasts from across the United Kingdom in a celebration of African identity, traditions and unity.
A major highlight of the festival will be the special Imiklomelo Ka Dakamela UK segment, an initiative associated with Chief Dakamela that honours individuals and organisations making significant contributions towards the preservation, promotion and transmission of African culture, customs and values.
The programme is designed to strengthen cultural connections among Africans living abroad while creating a platform for intergenerational learning, cultural exchange and the celebration of indigenous knowledge systems.
Organisers say the festival will use music, dance, storytelling and traditional performances to promote pride in African heritage and reinforce the importance of safeguarding cultural identity in an increasingly globalised world.
The event will also feature performances from a diverse line-up of artists, including Mazilankatha, Sisa Senkosi, 2 Kidd, Zinja Ziyamluma, Busi Mhlanga and Izingane Zoma, providing audiences with a rich showcase of African artistic talent and cultural expression.
Activities are scheduled to run from midday until late evening, offering participants a full day of entertainment, networking and cultural engagement.
Chief Dakamela’s participation is expected to further strengthen cultural ties between Zimbabwe and its diaspora communities, while advancing efforts to preserve and promote African heritage on the global stage.
