Warriors Boosted Ahead of India Clash in Unity Cup Playoff
Written by Staff Reporter on May 28, 2026
The Warriors have received a timely boost ahead of their Unity Cup third-place playoff against India, following the arrival of striker Prince Dube in London as Zimbabwe intensifies preparations for Saturday’s encounter.
Dube joined the national squad yesterday after being released by his club, Young Africans SC, adding firepower to the Warriors camp as the team seeks to finish the tournament on a strong note.
His arrival comes at a crucial stage for Zimbabwe, which is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Nigeria in Tuesday’s semi-final at The Valley Stadium.
In another positive development, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) confirmed that defender Gerald Takwara has now integrated into the squad and completed his first training session after arriving late ahead of the Nigeria clash.
The reinforcement of key personnel is expected to strengthen Zimbabwe’s options on both ends of the pitch as the Warriors regroup ahead of what promises to be a competitive showdown against India.
Zimbabwe booked a place in the third-place playoff after falling to Nigeria, while India suffered a 2-0 defeat to Jamaica in the other semi-final.
Saturday’s fixtures will see Zimbabwe battle India for third place, while tournament favourites Nigeria and Jamaica are set to square off in what is expected to be a thrilling Unity Cup final.
The Warriors will be eager to restore momentum and end their campaign on a positive note as they continue building cohesion ahead of future international assignments.
