The Ministry of Finance and Economic development has cut senior government employees’ salaries by 5% with effect from 1 January 2019.
This was announced by the minister of finance Professor Mthuli Ncube during a budget presentation at the Parliament were he emphasised on the need for government to cut on expenditure hence the development.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education received the highest fund from treasury at US$ 1,132 billion while Environment, Tourism and Hospitality got US$ 38,1 million.
Provincial councils and Local authorities are also set to benefit from US$ 310 million allocated to them as government seeks to develop the provinces through devolution while the country’s Agricultural output is expected to rise as US$989 has been allocated towards the sector.
The budget presented yesterday seeks to cut on government expenditure and channel funds towards development and stabilisation of the economy.
